Terms of Service

These Terms of Service outline the agreement between you (the client) and Lindsey Lovatt Therapy. By booking and attending sessions, you are agreeing to the following:

1. Our Agreement

Therapy is a contract, an agreement between two parties in which each has responsibilities and expectations.

As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist and Systemic Therapist, Lindsey offers you a safe and professional space to discuss feelings and difficulties. Using a range of evidence-based therapeutic models and techniques, we will explore solutions to help improve your mental wellbeing.
• Lindsey attends professional supervision on a regular basis and undertakes continuous professional development.
• She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).

2. Our Meetings

• Each standard session lasts 50 minutes.
• The initial consultation is usually longer (60–90 minutes) and includes a discussion of your reasons for seeking therapy, your personal history, and relevant details.
• Clear boundaries will be agreed at the start of the process.
• A bespoke therapy package will be discussed with you, with regular reviews of progress.
• If you are unable to keep an appointment, please give at least 48 hours’ notice; otherwise, the full session fee will be charged.
• If you arrive late, the session may not be extended.
• Therapy can be both beneficial and challenging. It is important to plan sessions so you have adequate support in place afterwards — Lindsey will help you prepare for this.

3. Professional Fees & Billing

• The fee for the initial consultation is £95.
• The fee for each subsequent session is £80.
• Fees must be paid in advance to secure your appointment.
• Discounts are not available.
• The full fee is payable for missed appointments without notice, or for cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice.
• Repeated absences, cancellations, or non-payment will be discussed and may lead to a review of this contract.

4. Risk & Safety

• Lindsey Lovatt Therapy is not a crisis service.
• If Lindsey believes you are at immediate risk of suicide or experiencing extreme mental illness, she may contact your GP or recommend that you do so, and take appropriate steps to ensure safety.
• If Lindsey believes there is a risk of harm to others, she has a professional duty to act.
• Clients are expected to be free from the influence of alcohol or drugs during sessions.
• Physical or verbal aggression will not be tolerated and may result in termination of therapy.

5. Confidentiality & Record Keeping

Therapy sessions are private and confidential. Information shared will not normally be disclosed to anyone else. Exceptions apply where Lindsey has an ethical or legal duty to share information, for example:
• If there is reason to believe someone is at serious risk of harm.
• To prevent a miscarriage of justice.
• When disclosure is required by law.

Where possible, any disclosure will be discussed with you beforehand.

Record keeping:

• All records are kept securely (manual records under lock and key; electronic records encrypted).
• Records are processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, May 2018) and classified as “Sensitive Personal Data.”
• Records are retained for 7 years and then destroyed.

6. Acceptance of Terms

By booking and attending therapy sessions, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms of Service and agree to abide by them.
